This Week & Thankful Thursday

Monday:  Reed wakes up at 5:00 puking.  Is sick all day, so I end up having a long day of getting nothing done (you moms know what I mean).  I try to keep Hudson away from him as much as possible, not to mention practically bathing in anti-bacterial gel just so I can stay well.  Miss my work-out at the Y cause I'm home with Sicky McPukey.

Tuesday: Reed wakes up feeling fine, so I throw some toast his way to see what happens.  Nothing comes back up, so we ship him off to school.  Throw on my work out clothes and Hudson and I head to the gym.  I'm not as early as I like to be, so I am not in the very back row of aerobics where I like to hang.  Class seems very hard, but every time she changes the routine, it gets me in the beginning.  Head to Wal-Mart for groceries, then home. Lay down to take a nap when Hudson does - I'm not feeling so hot.  (Something comes out this time of year that I am evidently quite allergic to.  For the last 5 or 6 years, at the end of January or first of February, I have horrible allergies for a few days and it turns into bronchitis.)  So, I wake up feeling like poo and know that the dreaded allergen has been sucked up into my skull.

Wednesday: I wake up feeling decent, so Hudson goes to my parents house so I can go help at Reed's school.   I put on my work out clothes so I have no excuse not to go to the gym.  At the school I make enough copies to kill a small forest (I put 4 reams of paper in the copier not to mention what was already in there that I used) and then head to the gym.  I'm running on the treadmill and it seems like it's really, really hard and I realize that I'm not feeling well.  I go home, shower and fall asleep.  Wake up JUST IN TIME to go get Reed.  Come back home and decided that I do not need to teach my bible class and sweet Tracy fills in for me again (two weeks in a row).  My mom keeps Hudson so I can rest (YAY!) and I spend the evening on the couch under a blanket with a box of tissues (I prefer Puffs Plus - they are by far the easiest on a nose!).

Thursday: Wake up feeling like double poo.  Go get Reed up, get out his clothes, pour him a bowl of cereal and go back to bed.  Don't even have the energy to get up when he and Brian leave - I just yell bye from the bed (Is that a bad mom???)  Lay in bed until noon, continuously grabbing my Puffs Plus.  (Oh who are we kidding... I finally stuck one up each nostril just so I wouldn't have snot dripping down my face!)  I get up, take as many pills as I can find that will heal my various ailments and I go get Reed from school.  I had to take him to the dentist to have a tooth pulled.  I feel sick, but also horrible that he has to deal with that, but he does great.  Swing by my parents house and pick up Hudson.  Then home, sweet, home.  Now I'm laying in bed exhausted with a kleenex stuffed up my left nostril and I am not ashamed.

Plans for Friday:  TV, my pajamas and possibly a trip to the store for more tissues. What can I say - this is why the party people gravitate toward me.  :)

So this week I am thankful for:
  • Not having a serious illness and knowing this will go away eventually
  • My family that helps me out tremendously
  • Being able to work out at least twice to stay with my routine somewhat
  • A new day tomorrow :)

Las Vegas Trip

We got back from our Vegas trip late Wednesday night. I just haven't had a chance to post pictures until today. We started out by flying into Vegas on Saturday and renting a car to drive to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. We drove over Hoover Dam on the way to Kingman, AZ (where we spent the night) but we decided not to stop until the next day. This is why I should have blogged earlier...I honestly cannot remember what we did besides drive on Saturday! :) We got up on Sunday and started our drive toward the Grand Canyon. Evidently, we were going to the wrong way to get to the glass sky walk... so we had to turn around. Neat. After A LOT of backtracking AND twisting and turning, we got to the place where you are supposed to go out on the the sky walk. We had to pay $43 to get on a bus just so they could drive us out to the "park" and then if you wanted to walk on the sky walk, it was $75 total. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Even after all that driving, there was no way that I was going to pay that. It's the principal of the thing People, take my advice and go to the National Park side of the Grand Canyon!! So, I bought a souvenir T-shirt of something that I didn't get to see and we got back in the car. :) We headed back towards Vegas and stopped at Hoover Dam. The first thing we did was eat (I shared a Dam Cheeseburger with my mom - hee hee) and then headed over to take a look. It was pretty awesome.
They were in the process of building a new bridge that I'm pretty sure would freak me out to drive over!

It's a weird vertigo type sensation when you look over the side - pretty amazing... (If you click on the picture and enlarge it, you can see that little white rectangle is a truck - it's crazy just how far away everything actually is!)

The white stripe around the bottom shows where the water line used to be... evidently it takes quite a bit of water to keep all those golf courses green in the middle of the desert. :)
We got back to Vegas and checked into our hotel. We spent a lot of our time looking at all the hotels and their awesome lobbies. The Bellagio had this amazing light fixture by their check in desk - I think I saw on the Travel Channel that it is all hand blown glass - very pretty and very odd all at the same time!
We saw Serendipity 3 in front of Caesars Palace and I got so excited! I had seen one of their Frozen Hot Chocolates on Oprah years ago and promised myself that if I ever got to New York, I would get one. When I saw LV had one, I knew we had to go! It was such a cute restaurant and our meal and the frozen hot chocolate were yummy (even if I was only able to drink about a 1/16th of it)!

After Blue Men, we headed over to the Bellagio to see the fountains - they were pretty cool...

I also gambled a little on the slot machines - I stuck to the penny machines because I am so super cheap. I won $20 at one point and cashed out to buy a souvenir shirt. I probably lost $20 or so dollars, but I think it was some pretty cheap entertainment for as long as I spent in the casinos! Two things we didn't get to do just because we ran out of time - I wanted to see the lights at Freemont Street and eat at In and Out Burger. Oh well... maybe next time! All in all, we had a great trip. I was glad to get to see a new place - Las Vegas is an experience!

Brrrrr....

Last week, the super cold weather came through and when we got up one morning the roads were icy. School was delayed for two hours, so Reed was hanging out playing with his Star Wars Legos stuff and Hudson went and got in bed with his daddy. After a few minutes,  I thought it had gotten awfully quiet in there, so  I thought I'd go check and this is what I found...So sweet!

Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful:

  • for everyone feeling better.  Hudson's snotty nose finally went away and Brian's allergy stuff is almost gone.
  • that I'm feeling pretty good.  I've worked out 3 days in a row this week and I think my body is finally catching up.  I woke up feeling good this morning and actually felt like getting out of bed instead of burrowing deeper in the warm covers!!
  • that my body is able (notice I didn't add 'willing').  In all seriousness, I can walk and run and do things for myself and I know I take that for granted a lot of the time by whining about working out, etc.
  • that my to-do list isn't too long.  I'm leaving for Vegas early Saturday morning and I don't a whole lot to do.  I haven't started packing yet, but that may be a task within itself!
  • that I have a sweet family to come home to.  I will miss all three of my boys SO much, but I'm sure I will have a nice vacation and will be able to come home to them refreshed.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for:

  • a comfortable, warm house
  • a warm car to go pick up Reed from school
  • plenty of food in the fridge, freezer and pantry
  • being married to my best friend
  • upcoming vacation!  I'm really looking forward to a trip to Las Vegas in a little over a week!  (Yes, I'm going with my parents, my brother and his fiance... my afore mentioned best friend isn't much of a traveler if you haven't yet heard.  :)  But, I gotta say, I won't mind being the fifth wheel at all.)

Lazy Saturday

Hudson has been sick today and he's a momma's boy when he's sick, so I've been unable to venture anywhere past the couch.  :)  Brian and Reed were out burning brush piles.  I got some sweet pictures of them - you can just click on them to enlarge it.

Sweet pictures

DadDad sent me these and I have to share them...

He titled the next one "I'll dunk it some day!"

So cute!

Good-Bye to 2009

Another year has gone and left us with many memories.  Its been a good year and I am so thankful for my blessings.  Here are some never before see pictures from the last 12 months... enjoy!

The boys and I in our new rain boots
Hudson wearing the Santa suit that I made for Reed when he was a baby.  It was a little too small, but worth cramming his fat little body into for a picture... :)
My little superheroes

The boys relaxin' with a little TV
Look at my good lookin' boy in his new boots and belt...so cute!
My mom bought Emory a tiara, but Hudson got to it first...
Part of why we love it out here... look at those turkeys!

The coming year will bring changes... Hudson will turn 2, Reed will turn 6, finish his Kindergarten year and become a 1st grader, Brian and I will celebrate our 8th anniversary and so many other things that God has planned for us that we don't even know about yet!  Happy New Year to you and yours - here's wishing you a wonderful 2010!
