Our national park tradition continues! This was our 5th road trip and our 10th park for visit. Rocky Mountain National Park was gorgeous, but first, we had to get there! Day 1 consisted of lots and lots of driving. We left Granbury about 9:30 and headed to Colorado Springs where we were staying that night.
We did lots of games, reading and sleeping.
We woke up the next morning and made the short drive to Garden of the Gods.
After leaving the visitors center, we headed into the park. It was on a Sunday and I don't know if that was the issue or not, but IT WAS PACKED WITH PEOPLE. There was hardly anywhere to park to get out and see things - and you can see the traffic in the picture below.
We didn't stay very long at all and just got out once. It was pretty though!
Since we were right by it, we drove up the Pike's Peak highway.
This bag of popcorn was high on Hudson's list of things to talk about all the way up. He kept saying it was going to pop like every 2 minutes. It did get pretty puffy, but never popped. We opened it and ate it on the way down. :)
It was in the 40's up top and was a great view. The altitude had me feeling weird, so I didn't take too many pictures.
Hudson made a snowball. :)
After leaving Pikes Peak, we made the last leg of our journey to Estes Park. It was foggy, cool, mountainous and beautiful. #allthehearteyes
Each night I made a little slideshow that I would email to friends and family to let them know what we did that day. Some of these photos will be a repeat, but I think it tells a fun story. :)
