Patience please!

I'm annoyed.

It's been 7 days since I cut my hand and that's when the nurse informed that the stitches could be removed.  Up until this point, I would gain a little use of my hand almost everyday...not anything big, but at least I could hold things.   The stitches were becoming quite itchy and bothersome, so instead of making a trip to the ER for a nurse to take them out, I just decided to do it myself.  The cut is not as "healed" or "closed" as I expected it to be.  I know it's only been a week, and frankly I don't know what I expected, but I did expect for the process to be more far along.  The placement of the cut is the killer. If I move my thumb or forefinger, it opens a little.  Soooo, I'm back to almost no movement again and I'm very frustrated!  Hopefully I can survive the next week or so of one-handedness and I can start to get back to some kind of normalcy. Here are a couple of pics of the bruising on the back of my hand and the cut, post-stitch removal.  (Just for you, Sara. :))

Oh, no! I have heard that stitches can itch. I'm sure they were driving you nuts. You pretty much get the "Tough Chick" award for taking the stitches out yourself!

that gave me goosebumps and I am not squieemish usually. I think it was seeing the bruising and thinking of the pain as it was happening. Next time you do this, have Kelly G (nurse)look at it before you take the stitches out...just to be sure it's "ready".

So sorry for your pain and limited movement I know it's frustrating.
